Is there any way to get a good exchange rate when converting US Travelers Checks (American Express, etc) to pesos?
 
I am afraid not. I had some similar problems before. There is usually a commission fee and then you sometimes do not get the best exchange rate.
Contact the American Express Bank in Argentina for any doubt.
