Turkey

Sorry if this is obvious, but which market in Belgrano? El Galpon? I'm doubting it's El Galpon but it's the only one I know.
El galpon is in Chacarita not Belgrano, look online for Mercado Juramento

The market I believe they are talking about it the one on Ciudad de la Paz & Juramento.
Insignificant things like STREET NAMES are always appreciated for those of us who are expats.

:)

Has anyone ever gotten a roast turkey from a rotisserie place in the city?

I know Kansas does them but the price is pretty steep for turkey.

How much are they charging? (I'm a vegetarian -- just asking out of curiosity :p)

I located this info in a post by EvergreenGal from last year:

"La Granja
de Ricardo Atapuerca
Juramento 2527 - Local 33
Capital Federal
4781-1243

They are located inside the Belgrano enclosed market....in the back corner next to the rear door that leads to the parking lot...."

I just called and ordered mine and don't worry about size because the man on the phone told me they don't have anything less than 5 kilos! EPA! Anyway I was nervous about buying a possibly pre-brined turkey (do not want) and he assured me that they are all-natural. They do offer free delivery (even to Barrio Norte, where I am located) but only in the morning.

My spanish is not excellent but he was very nice on the phone and I'm looking forward to eating my bird! Thanks for the recommendation.

How big was the bird you ended up ordering and how much is he charging? If I have to roast my own would prefer the fresh bird! :)

I ordered a 6 kilo (mas o menos) bird, we'll be 8 people. It will be $29.80 per kilo.

As I said they do offer free delivery in the morning, which is quite nice but unfortunately I can't take advantage of that as I won't be home. Looks like I'll be schlepping it around the city myself!

Anyway if you have a big enough oven (and it doesn't need to be THAT big) roasting it yourself is not hard. I did it for the first time on my own last year and it was great!

People in argentina dont have the faintest idea of how to prepare a turkey.
Frozen turkeys are very bad quality
and fresh turkeys are tougher then Mike Tyson.

Where did you get a roasting pan? I've been checking out the kitchen bazaars and haven't really found anything
