Twitterman Rides Again

I would suggest reading this thread to see the interminable futility that is this discussion, rather than starting to discuss this issue with an Argentine.

It´s rather like trying to convince a balding man in denial, that he doesn't need to borrow your comb.

The ones in denial are the British, that refuse to recognize they invaded the islands, not discovered them, and never wanted to get into a discussion about who should have sovereignty on those islands, even with an UN mandate regarding that.
To talk about "citizens self determination" is bullshit , as they are not citizens, they are invaders and have always been.

Its easy to say "forget about them" when it wasn't you who was robbed.

have more respect for the grandmother of Argentine democracy.

I guess it's meant as irony. Otherwise you're underestimating our own capacity to reach democracy... (I'm a local).

Cheers,

I am not Argentine born. And I fail to see the legitimacy - other than military power - for the UK occupation. Without oil and gas on the islands the alien inhabitants are as much worth as their sheep.

Poor Borges, he does not deserve to be plagiarised like that.

I just don't understand what Argentines intend to do with the Falklands if Britain ever gives them to Argentina.

If the answer is "Build a prison system to send all of the street criminals, moto chorros, crooked politicians, dog owners who don't pick up the poop on the sidewalk, kidnappers, bribe solicitors, and graffiti taggers", then I will be at the front of the march to beg Britain to give them away.

But as it is, to me it doesn't make any sense. It's not like Argentina needs yet another money-pit for the government to throw money at. The real focus should be getting the land that Chile stole from Argentina. But then again, I'm not really that important in the grand governmental scheme of things.

You don't understand why a country is interested in territorial integrity? Or not having a foreign power in control of territories that contain resources?
