Has anyone successfully applied for a UK settlement visa from Argentina? I am UK-born and bred and my two kids have UK passports yet my US husband has had his settlement visa DENIED!
The rules have changed a lot since 2012 and I know it's alot stricter, but this is crazy.

I'm also a UK born and bred with a unsuccessful UK settlement visa for my partner. That was with the old rules in 2010.
UK immigration can go fuck itself as far as I am concerned.

Wow thats nuts. You gotta wonder how so many non EU nationals are living in London.

Immigration in the UK is set up to benefit those who want to abuse it rather than the ones who really want to work and take part in the country.

One can't help feeling that in their effort to tighten up on what was a fairly lax system some years ago, they have ruined it for genuine cases.

Totally agree on that one. Controlled immigration is good but after opening the floodgates a few years ago they seem to be making it far too hard to genuine cases to live in the country. Such a shame.

Has anyone considered France, Spain or other countries close to the UK for residency as a first step?
I'm purely thinking on the run here.

And now it seems we can't even go to UK on holiday to visit my family as it will say "visa denied" on the computer. I can't move back to my own country to be with my widowed mother!!! Crazy.

Don't worry you can. We still visit a lot. We just have to apply for a visit visa now to the UK before travelling. Nearly the same amount of paper work as applying for a settlement visa, but costs less.

So we've been penalised for applying. Before he could enter on visa waiver for up to 3 months. Now we need to apply for a visitor visa each time. Thanks UK. I don't have a home now unless I become a single mother!!!!
