Upcoming Software Upgrade

Ok folks, I am getting closer to upgrade the forum software. And it will happen within the next week or so. The idea is first to upgrade the platform, stabilize everything and only after that start adding features. So, at this point the major visible difference will be a greatly improved mobile experience. The forum will look a bit simpler, but I tried to match our current color scheme.

Here are several important moments.

New url will be https://baexpats.org (https, not http, but you will be redirected automatically).

Only users, posts, personal messages and likes will be transferred.

I will not transfer users who have not made a single post. So, if you have been just lurking all this time, it may be a good moment to start writing .

Some users created a display name that is different from their login name. New software presently supports only one name, so it will be login name only. If you would like to change your login name (either before or after the move), please email me to [email protected] or send me a PM.

What is going to happen?

The conversion procedure is rather involving, and I would prefer to do it during the daytime. So, at some point I will make a final copy and start the conversion. After that I will put "This forum is read only" message at the top of the main page. So, the forum will still be available, but newly added content will not be transferred.

Then I will turn off the old forum and turn on the new one.

I am keeping my fingers crossed and hope everything will be OK.

Yess, Xenforo 2 that reached stable at the end of November. There is no direct converter from IPB though.

Thanks for the upgrade! Question - I'm being stupid and I want to edit my neighborhood and I don't see the option. It still says I'm in Palermo. I think I'm being blind!
