Last Saturday my parents were told off at micraciones for doing visa runs. But they were still given 90 days this time too. They always spend the summer in Villa la Angostura and stay 4.5 months. Being so close to Chile we like having a week there in late December, early January. Every time we come back they give them 90 new days. We’re aware of the option to go to micraciones in Bariloche but since the new 90 days always cover their stay we only did that once, in 2021-22.

Obviously we’re not going to stop going to Chile for vacations and shopping but maybe next year we have to ask them not to grant 90 new days so that we have a chance to show willingness to follow the rules.

What are we to make of this? Do we suspect this was a special case or are they generally getting more prickly?

she should have paid her habilitacion de salida for overstaying in advance. the comment is relating to her exit, not her entry.

We just did a visa run to Uruguay for a few nights. No issues upon return today. Q: "You are a tourist?" Answer, "Yes." That was all there was to it, with a smile on both sides of the plexiglass!

Based on the fact that you previously indicated that you arrived in Argentina on Oct 24, 2025, it looks like you made the "visa run" to Uruguay almost a full month before your tourist visas would expire, there simply wasn't any reason for your trip to trigger any issues upon reentry

It's the folks who've already recieved a 90 day extension at migraciones or have overstayed their initial 90 day tourist permit that are likely to face an issue when they try to return to Argentina after a visa run.

Just wanted to clarify so those folks would not necessarily expect the same result.

Did you actually recieve a new 90 day entry permit when you returned, and if so, how can you be certain?
