Wanted: Japanese chair
Let me k. if s.o knows where to get it

This morning I saw a chair similar to the one in the link posted by Neil, though the back was also upholstered and it had a separate (small) foot rest. It was in the window of Italdesign, Ave Virrey Del Pino 2383 (close to the Jose Hernandez stop of subte linea D). The sale price was $1190 pesos (reduced from $1490). The model name is "Pretoria" so I am not sure if you could consider it authentically Japanese, but it is typically lower in height.

Thank you Steve and Neil for your suggestions .
Whether it is” strictly” Japanese or not, is not quite important
I am actually searching a kind of chair which puts me in a saddle/kneeling position as I spend a lot of time in front of my PC. Maybe Japanese in style, what matters is providing a good posture for my back
Saludos, Chris

I know the type you mean, was looking to buy one myself a while back.

I saw a few on mercadolibre, was a struggle finding them though. Can't seem to see any there now. Think it was listed under silla ortopedica or something similar....

Good luck, if you find a good supplier let me know.

Perhaps you would enjoy either the Balans Stokke or the Wegner (Danish) design?

These are on ebay in the US (I'm just posting the links to see if they are similar to what you're seeking):

http://cgi.ebay.com/danish-modern-e...tem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4aa1c5f00b

I did not see any on mercado libre, but I know from experience that knock offs of the wegner design can become wobbly after just a few months use.

Ah, well done steve, thats what I was trying (and failing) to find.

I've definitely seen the balans stokke type chairs on mercadolibre.

I have seen Stokke here, I can't really remember where exactly but I will keep my eyes open en let you know.

If you are looking for a seiza chair you could check plans/measurements/photos online and take them to a maderera to have them make one for you. A plain one shouldn't be that difficult to make.

@Mini: right, I guess it is much cheaper too. Any recommendation to a good madedera?
