Western Union money transfer

WU rate fast approaching 1600 which means prices will rise on many items.
You lost me. A more favorable USD rate will reduce costs for expats earning in dollars. This economy divorced itself a long time ago from pricing items against the blue-rate, as evidenced by an IPC far in excess of dollar appreciation.

It is better to watch the Canje which is the spread between the CCL and MEP. That is where the arbitrage which WU is taking advantage is based. When the spread is low, WU gives less pesos. Depending on need it is better to not use western union compared to doing the conversion to MEP or pesos yourself. At your brokerage, not your Argentina bank. Often you get more MEP dollars than what you sent from your foreign account, even after any fees. Which is much different than what you get from WU after fees.

This chart script describes it better than me, and made available for you to use in your analysis on your own charts

1. CANJE (%)
The spread between Dólar Cable and Dólar MEP, calculated as:
(AL30D / AL30C − 1) × 100
AL30D is the Bonar 30 priced in USD MEP, and AL30C is priced in USD Cable (CCL). A positive value means cable dollars trade at a premium over MEP dollars. This captures the cost of converting MEP USD into Cable USD via bond arbitrage.
