I just noticed this on the U.S. Embassy website :
" Due to the high volume of emails received daily,we are limited to answering inquiries via email:.

This is just so they don't have to respond to any old email from some crackpot.

BTW, what do you want to ask them?

In their defense I have to say they operate very efficiently. The times I have needed to use their services everything was handled very quickly and exactly how they explained the process was exactly how it was....no "you need this, that and the other", then when you go with this that and the other, they don't add requirements, they take your papers, process them, give you what is needed and send you on your way. Good ol' North American efficiency...there's nothing like it. They also have responded to each and every e-mail I have sent them in less than 24 hours.

Embassy personnel are generally responsive and articulate, but this reads like something Shrub might have said.

I think what they meant to say is "Due to the high volume of telephone calls received daily, we are limited to answering inquiries via email>

I think what you meant to say is the US Government doesn't know their head from a hole in the ground.

When I had to go in, the gave me an appointment at 2 PM, then had me waiting for an hour because the person handling my case was in a meeting.
it was kind of weird because then other customers arrived, but they had to go to different windows than mine (they were citizens, I am a LPR) so I waited and waited. Then I asked the security (which was comprised of two locals speaking Spanish only, and my Spanish was basic) if I missed something. They started telling me that I need an appointment, which I had (but I had no printer to print the appointment email).

It was all very messy, but the guy that finally showed up was SOOOO nice that made up for everything*.

*I am used to late and rude Italian staff, so just one thing different makes me forget the other.
