Yes, unoficially, on the 21st of Jan 2013 she's supposed to have visited the islands for two days according to a report on Jorge Lanata's PPT.
What was the presidenta doing on a fiscal paradise? Was she there to work on her sun tan?
Aparently not, according to last night's PPT report, Cristina had some other serious business to do... Money deposit$.

Why did the AFIP take the Seychelles Islands off the fiscal paradise list? According to the AFIP, the Seychelles are not a fiscal paradise..why?

Stay tuned for a full report in the next few hours. I think this is could be the begining of a more serious episode.

Oh God, Día del Libertador José de San Martín should really be named "BA Expat Conspiracy Day". Some poor sap had to actually respond to this bullshit on a holiday on the official Casa Rosada FB Account...

It was quite a programme last night and clearly Lanata upped the stakes this time by aiming for the jugular.
I've had an on off relationship with Lanata but felt that tuning in last night was well worth it.
Over the months, he has implored CFK to answer his many questions arising from Ruta del dinero K investigations, knowing full well that she never would personally.
But last night's outburst by the Casa Rosada spoke volumes.
Lanata, having publicly put the president's credibility up for questioning has finally unleashed the tiger in the cage.

Seriously ARbound - is it so hard to think that Cristina would be depositing money there? I am hardly a conspiracy theorist (and if you are talking about the other thread of opening deposit boxes, most people said that it was just a rumor and no basis in fact). But this trip to the Seychelles, it's quite credible and not at all a stretch to think she was doing exactly what Lanata accused her of doing. The alternative being she flew halfway around the world for 2 days (or 13 hours) for other reasons which would be...nope, not coming up with any.

Unless of course you believe that the vast increase in the Kirchner patrimony ( ignoring the fact that an independent investigation stated that there was NO legal way that it could have increased that much) is just a lucky thing, that all her money is in ARS pesos in the bank and that she has legally earned and declared every penny.

Maybe Cristina just wanted to go somewhere to have some discreet cosmetic surgery done ? ;)

What I can't stand about this country is that the government lies with a straight face, but so do the journalists. People like taking sides, and I watch Lanata myself but he is fond of pulling stuff out of thin air (yes, like I said, the government lies too, but that doesn't excuse nor justify Lanata's lies).

Its the UIF that deals with money laundering and they are the ones who decide whether a country is a fiscal paradise or not. And their list hasn't changed in, at least, the last year (my wife's an auditor, she deals with this stuff all the time). Here's the list: http://www.uif.gov.ar/uif/index.php/es/paraisos-fiscales/117-decreto-134498/109 (Seychelles is number 66).

I thought they were saying it was simply a 12 hour re- fueling stop. After all she's worried about Tango 1 being repossessed! Perhaps there is a "non repossession " agreement with the Seychelles ?

Yeah, if plane not re-fuelled, it goes down!

I must admit that I can't reconcile Lanata's claim that the Seychelles were taken off the tax haven list with the official version.
Neither is Lanata a saint, but I'm damned sure he double checks his facts before going on air.
