It seems that most on here, (as the name implies), live in BA. I'll be overnighting in BA on my way out of the country next month, and thinking about getting an AirBNB or nice local hotel, instead of my usual Hilton stay. Even though I've got the points, it seems pretty gringo of me to keep visiting the Norte Americano hotel. Ideally I'd like to stay in a nice older place to get the flavor of old BA, like 1900 old, or somewhere with the flavor of the City, and would like to visit a nice neighborhood Asado Restaurant that doesn't break the bank and not touristy. Any recommendations??

I really like La Colorada restaurant on Migueletes, big airy double height dining room with nice inexpensive food. Great steak and open all day so you don’t need to worry about eating late.

I always stay in Airbnbs in Belgrano as I love that neighbourhood as it isnt touristy at all but really nice safe neighbourhood with plenty going on.

I live in Belgrano....wonderful place....but I am also a deep user of Airbnb....and they can be a crapshoot. I wouldn't gamble for just one night.

I subscribe @Caribbean Cool 's advice. For one night, only, your Airbnb's options are limited. Too high a turnover cost for the hosts to rent for just one night. Besides, what do you thing you'd experience better? You'll just be dealing with 'where am I going to leave my luggage until my next flight', mostly. Being a tourist doesn't mean being ashamed to be a gringo!

Good council on one night abb, thanks! Guess I’m looking for a nice local hotel then in a nice neighborhood. No shame, been a road warrior for forty plus years, like to taste local flavors, and haven’t really done that in the capital of my adopted country.

I don't live in BA except that I'm returning for a month this January. I think the reviews on airbnb are pretty informative. In my previous visit, the full apartment rentals in Palermo are better than San Telmo or theater district. But this just a generalization.
