Which Tv To Buy?

I would recommend the Samsung UN40EH6030 Non side lit LED "40 ... why?
  • - true 120mhz refresh.
  • - excellent blacks & overall contrast levels.
  • - Good enough 3D option.
Best bang for your $$$.

I would avoid going the 'Smart TV' route as you end up paying extra for smart features (mostly software features) at the cost of a slower refresh rate & lower contrasts.

To me so called 'Smart TVs' are more like a cheap gimmicky computer tacked onto a large monitor..I'd rather use a laptop as the 'smart' part & get the best bang for my bucks on on the monitor hardware side...a faster, solid LED monitor in three years time is going to be more valuable than a slow & superseded Smart TV running on old outdated software features. My laptop can run all the latest Smart TV features in the future. I prefer having more 'upgrading' control over my devices .

EDIT: You can pick one up in mercadolibre.com.ar for around AR$6000.

I went down this path for awhile but concluded that with an active house, including several large animals, cables from my computer to my tv would likely be a problem. Even with a wireless keyboard I wouldn't bet on the long-term survival of the tv.

I also spent some time searching for a wireless way to connect computer/tv but couldnt find one that was satisfactory.

So, by buying a Smart tv, I'm gambled on the possibility that Panasonic may someday upgrade this set to a real browser.

As for the picture, I cant compare the Panasonic to any other tv. But I have an LG LED in Florida, so I have some experience with HD tv's, yet I am really impressed with the colors and clarity of this tv.

The Expat Forum has been very helpful to me on a number of occasions, so if anyone from the forum wants to see a Panasonic in a household situation, you're welcome to stop by.

smart tv's are great and all but a cheap android set-top box or boxee will always be better imho.

Thank you all. I bought the 42" Panasonic Viera TH-L32E5A. Lots of good Panasonic reviews on line. The Samsung looked great but it was a smaller screen and $1000AR more money and dumb. I realize the smart TV isn't the best but for me it is an easy way to watch NetFlix.

NetFlix is too slow to get new pix hasn't anyone ever heard of piratebay?

Congrats in your Panasonic T.V.purchase. Now if your T.V. set is able to reproduce in HD format, don't know if in BsAs available telecasts in HD, if is available. The best viewing distance to your T.V. sets are measured down below.
1080i/p HD format
• 28-inch set: 3.7 feet
• 32-inch set: 4.2 feet
• 37-inch set: 4.8 feet
• 40-inch set: 5.2 feet
• 42-inch set: 5.5 feet = your set is 42 inches.? Then you will need close to 6 foot distance for best view.
• 46-inch set: 6 feet
• 50-inch set: 6.5 feet
• 52-inch set: 6.8 feet
• 60-inch set: 7.8 feet
• 63-inch set: 8.2 feet
• 70-inch set: 9.2 feet

Currently in the same boat looking for a TV. Can I ask where you bought it from and what price did you get? Checking fravega and musimundo its around $7200 for the panasonic which is a bit more than I wanted to spend myself , was looking at the PHILIPS 42" 42PFL4007 or Samsung 40" UN40EH5000 both at around $5900.

I paid 5900 at Garbarino 6 weeks ago.

We bought the TV at Fravega, paid 5779 pesos including a 10% discount for cash. If you have a certain credit card you can get a better discount. You have to ask for the cash discount. It's nice, but I am sure the Samsung, and Philips are fine also. We went in and stared at all the freakin TVs for 3 days and finally picked this one because... they had it, price, reputation, and Jeff"s recommendation.

ok thanks Jeff & Nancy, but i`m a bit confused now, is it a 42" or a 32" you paid that price for because you mention it was 42" Panasonic Viera TH-L32E5A. But that model number is a 32"? Fravega have the TCL-42E5A at $7299 then the 32" version at $4999.

It is the TCL-42E5A, 42". Price was with a 10% discount for cash. On certain days, certain credit card give 15% to 20% discount.
