I've been to a few restaurants here that have red tuna.
Where do they buy it?! And why can't I do the same?!
Any ideas where or how to get my hands on red tuna??

Warning: research mercury levels in red tuna.

Benihana has red tuna pretty consistently. Osaka usually does too.

Why restaurants don't usually have it I think is a combination of local tastes and price. Most argies think that tuna is the stuff you get in a can and would prefer to eat cream cheese with a little salmon on top.

Eating fish is not a great sport here it seems so that is probably why stores only have the communal garden variety. I would hasten a guess that the mercado central would be where the restaurants get it from.

I've gotten red tuna once from Walmart. It was imported from Uruguay and like all things here, comes and goes.

I have see it at Ostramar, on Scalabrini Ortiz. Not always, but there is always some kind of nice piece of fish of buy.
