Why is it so important to have a round trip tix?

I flew from Canada one way last year - no problems, no questions asked. If anyone asks tell them you're joining a bus tour in BA that ends up in Peru - or something.

I just flew from NY to Buenos Aires on Mexicana with a 1 way ticket two weeks ago. I was not asked anything about a return flight.

again another traveller from the states who has never been asked to show any proof of a round trip ticket and ive been in and out maybe 25 times in the past four years. personally i usually find buying a round trip ticket is cheaper than buying a one way and often buy a round trip just for that reason. plus you can usually move the return for a fee much smaller than buying another one way ticket. i wouldnt worry about the r/t
