Hello! I'm a young sommelier looking to tour vineyards, hopefully finding work, while simultaneously satisfying my desire to travel! I'll be arriving in September and staying through till the harvest. I would love any tips on making connections with winemakers and finding internships or apprenticeships. Also interested in meeting with somms in B.A. Also any general tips on living in Argentina for 7 months will be much appreciated!

RE MENDOZA

1. TAKE A WINETASTING COURSE

If you speak Spanish, there are often reasonably priced tasting mini-courses at Enoteca: http://www.fondovitivinicola.com.ar/la-enoteca.asp

Some bodegas offer courses in English, for example:

Good wine-education sessions at:

4. HOTSPRINGS- CACHEUTA

A half hour bus ride from Mendoza, leave from Terminal, Exprso Uspallata (EUSA) buslines.

Can go to ritzy hotel for day (180 pesos, includes great buffet, need reservations) or pay 25 pesos for geat public hotsprings. Open all year round 10 to 6.

Contact Nigel Tollerman at 0800 Vino -- google him -- he has had interns in the past, not sure what the situation is right now if he's in need of anyone etc. He would be a fantastic resource for information, he's been written up many times in numerous publications so should not be hard to find his contact details.

MendozaNow posted some great links...just the classes alone will get you to meet people in the industry and things should blossom from there

Thanks! That's all really helpful information. Should be able to make some good connections this way.
