Expat, But The Other Way Around!

Hey, neighbor, I'm about twenty minutes away in Northern MoCo. ;) Welcome!

    Question About Re-Entry

Just a bit unclear on the following, hopefully someone can clear it up since Migraciones hasn't indicated anything. I got my unlimited entry 10-year sticker to get into Argentina in June of 2011 by passing through Ezeiza like the majority of people do. However, since they have changed the...

    Karaoke in Buenos Aires?

It's been a while, but 2455 Vuelto de Obligado (a block from Cabildo) is a karaoke place in Beglrano called PROBAR. I never went in but I passed in front of it a few times when I was living in CABA. It's a decent area and you wouldn't have to deal with going to Flores at night.

    Foreigners Complaining about Higher Prices

Was reading Clarín this morning and came across this article. Quejas turisticas. After reading that and thinking back on it, how often are we (as foreigners) really ripped off? I didn't live in a touristy part of the city and made it a point to get to know the people working in my local...

    La Plata (A couple questions)

I had asked a friend who lives in Gran La Plata where to avoid and City Bell was not recommended by him! He more or less said the housing is cheaper but it comes at a great cost to security and he is not a huge fan of it. Glad to see that his recommendation has a bit of weight from someone...

    La Plata (A couple questions)

This is just a question to see what is out there, but I want to see what expats have to say about this one. :D I am currently working on getting a scholarship that would allow me to investigate a topic of my choice. Without going into too much detail, I decided that the best place to get the...

    Totally Disgusted

In my experience, the cops in Federal Capital (at least in my old neighborhood) seemed to be decent people... relatively. There was one who always stood on the corner near my house who I would talk with while waiting for the bus. We got to the level where he told me about his daughters and...

    The Queen Speaks

.... and she's still talking? I've only caught snippets of it (but my Facebook has exploded with Argentinean friends complaining) but from the looks of things, all she does it spit out numbers and talk about how Argentina is the regional economic leader... ahead of Brasil! :rolleyes...

Mar del Plata over the weekend

I stayed at Hotel del Faro which is in the Faro district. It was a quiet area: Residential, but a beach right across the road. A few grocery stores within walking distance, safe, and the bus that runs along the coast passes by there (plus various others that will get you into the city within...

    Crime hot-spots in the capital

I have done a lot of questionable things that one could consider unsafe but I have never waited at a bus stop at night by myself. My friends waited with me to make sure I got on the bus safely without any problems. If it was really late, I would call a trusted remise. However, everyone's...

    Crime hot-spots in the capital

Something along the lines of this area (or very close by): Last October I was walking from Plaza de Mayo towards 9 de Julio on a Sunday (the long weekend), and decided to avoid walking on Avenida de Mayo because of the throngs of tourists. I cut down a side street and then turned onto...

    Crime hot-spots in the capital

I was very lucky in the seven months I was studying in Buenos Aires to have never been a victim of any sort of robbery. The only uncomfortable situation I was ever in was walking to meet up with a friend from Balbin to Congreso (a good 8-9 blocks ) and a man was following me a few meters back...

    CFK and ÉL

Nunca se sabe. ;) I am hoping to research pro-kirchernista inspired graffiti in La Plata and the symbolism, political meaning, and artistic faucet that the artists choose to use (materials, surfaces, textures, etc etc). And when asked what I think, I have my response, 'eh, che, soy yanqui...

    CFK and ÉL

Nikad, you're on fire, girl! Your shit para todos reminded me of a joke that went around my more 'hippy' friends when CFK won the past elections... porro para todos, paco para todos, etc etc. ;) So many jokes about a reality that is getting harsher with each day... Oh, and for those who are...
