    Living in Vicente Lopez?

The Vicente Lopez/Olivos area is quite nice. I lived there for a few months before moving into the city. The population definitely skews more towards families and older individuals and is pretty affluent. The further north and towards the river you get it becomes more affluent. Decent selection...

What is current aprox rental contract renewal increase?

I’ve had two apartments in the past 6 years and both were fully registered and paid in pesos per the law. The catch: my employer arranges the leases and pays the rent. Landlords have been fine being above board when they know the lease is guaranteed by an expatriate employer that takes care of...

    Restaurants - Dietary Restrictions/Allergies

Depending on the price point you are looking for, most of the fine dining and touristy restaurants are very cognizant of allergies. I have a severe (and unfortunate) allergy to cinnamon, which seems to be sprinkled randomly in dishes/cocktails/coffee in nice restaurants. Nearly every restaurant...

    Money transfer issue anyone?

Just successfully completed a $500USD transfer from the US to BBVA using Remitly at 4:30pm today. Funds arrived in my BBVA account in 13 minutes. As long as you are under the 2 million peso cap, it seems Remitly is still functioning.

What Would Dollarization Mean for Expats?

I have a hard time seeing dollarization happening. Argentina simply doesn’t have the forex reserves for it to be feasible. Even if it did, I wouldn’t even know how to begin assessing what that would mean for expatriates. Unfortunately, any solutions to Argentina’s economic situation will take...

Belgrano Day School or Lincoln School?

I’ve heard good things about BAICA as well as Northlands. They aren’t accredited in the US though they both offer a very similar experience.

Belgrano Day School or Lincoln School?

The most recent matriculation list I’ve seen was from the pandemic years (online learning) but it included the following schools. It seems Lincoln only graduates about 40-50 students per year (like other posters have said, high-turnover expat-oriented school). QS World Rankings #8 - National...

Belgrano Day School or Lincoln School?

Those fees are in fact bit low depending on when a student enrolled at Lincoln! - though it is primarily only the Argentine families that pay this out of pocket, as Lincoln is the designated US State Department school (and the designated school for several other diplomatic entities and...

    Argentina Versus Colombia to Retire

Locational comparisons are always an enjoyable read. Perspectives can vary quite wildly! Overall, I have preferred Buenos Aires to my time in Colombia, though both have their charms and pitfalls. Weather: Buenos Aires weather is remarkably pleasant. I do enjoy a cool climate as well, though I...

    Covid Vaccination Argentina

Glad I can help... I went to the PAMI vaccination center on Avenida Maipu in Olivos. Bring your J&J vaccine card and explain that you need a booster. They will ask you to upload your foreign vaccine card to the MiArgentina app and then take your contact info. They called me the next day to come...

    Covid Vaccination Argentina

Just a data point, but I was able to receive a Pfizer booster in Zona Norte without previous vaccination in Argentina. If you received the J&J vaccine outside of Argentina, I was told at the vaccination center that Pfizer is the only vaccine Argentina has authorized as a booster for J&J...

    Rules for residents returning ?

I recently returned to BA from the US and completed a 10 day quarantine. Many of my colleagues traveled and returned at the same time. The folks that did their quarantines in Zona Norte received one phone call over ten days to check. The folks that completed their quarantine in CABA did not...

    Why Argentina over other countries?

I chose Argentina because it is a relatively easy place to live as an expat. Good healthcare, LGBTQ friendly, and a vibrant/friendly population. Like anywhere, personal economics makes a huge impact. I considered Colombia as well, but ultimately decided Argentina would be an easier cultural...
