Latin Americas move to the left Good ? OR Bad

Oh, what I meant was that the media always seems bias on this topic. It's really hard to form an opinion on something when all you can find is bias in the media. I suppose a first hand experience would really make a difference. Of course within the country you are going to get a lot of bias and...

    Dual citizenship?

Thanks for the answers. A&A that sounds like a dare. I hereby promise if/when I do this, I will go to plaza San Martin, drink a bottle of Malbec and endlessly eat empanadas while ripping up my US passport (well, maybe I'll make a photocopy and rip that instead I don't really want to pay to get a...

    Dual citizenship?

Hello. I plan on calling the embassy next week to ask them this question but I am anxious to have some answers. So... I was wondering if anybody knew anything about this. If a U.S. citizen voluntarily seeks Argentine citizenship will they risk losing their U.S. citizenship?

    exit tax?

When I cam here the first time a couple years ago I had to pay an exit fee, I flew with continental. Maybe it depends on the airline or maybe they change it? I can't remember what the fee was I think it was 20 dollars.

    Hello! Hola

thanks for the response. It's interesting to know that it's something that happened only recently. In my opinion everyone here could use a good pay raise :)

    Where did Barrio Norte go?

Nice article Reemster, I wonder what it takes for a barrio to be considered "official".

    where to live? (mid 20s)

I say go for the place on Guemes y Gallo. It's a good location (in my opinion, although others might say different.) You have the main avenue Santa Fe close by, and the Aguero subway stop for line D should be right on Santa Fe very close to there. The D line is the most useful subway line in...

    Need some insight

I have not worked there myself but one of my friends did. She is a highly qualified English teacher and they were paying her 15 pesos an hour. She also was working a lot of really long hours. I have heard of other people complaining a lot about it. I am not sure if it's really a good place to...

    Hello! Hola

First I would suggest if you haven't already you should take a look at this thread under expat life: Argentina Teaches 5 Lessons of Happiness. I think to live here and love it here you really have to be opened minded and ready to deal with some confusing and frustrating things...

watch out at ezeiza on arrival....

I was always taught to carry expensive things on your carry on and a change of clothes and a tooth brush just in case. I never really heard of anyone having trouble at the airport but it looks like its more of a serious problem than I thought!

Osvaldo Pugliese or Astor Piazzolla ? :)

I can't say I have a favorite, I just love it all. But what I really wanted to say was that I thought it was really sweet of you for listening to tango when you miss your soon to be wife. That's a good love story, it made my day. I wish you two the best of luck!

Argentina Teaches 5 Lessons of Happiness

I liked this list as well. I love the part about cars too. Maybe it's my ex-boyfriend's obsession with cars, but for some reason I was never really into them :) I have put a lot of thought into this here. When we finally moved into our first real apartment here it didn't have any furniture. We...

I pay for cable but I don't have a TV

That actually makes sense. I kept thinking there are a lot of poor people and struggle middle class here, that much is evident, these are the type of people who could benefit from used items. But I don't see many second hand stores here. It really didn't make much sense to me. But I have...

I pay for cable but I don't have a TV

Moonwitch, I think you missed the point of the thread, that's what I wanted to do, suspend the service, but according to my contract with the apartment we apparently are not allowed to because they have a deal with the company and it's considered apart of the expenses that everyone must pay...

    signs around the city

Did the signs look like the one on this website: http://www.criterioonline.com.ar/local/29320.html?task=view If so, your short and simple explanation is that there is going to be a strike "paro" on August 25th and 26th. A lot of ambulance drivers, doctors, nurses, and people like that who work...
