    A lot of advice needed

You’re welcome. By Dec/Jan the election will have happened so who knows - things might have completely gone to pieces or nothing much might have changed. You’ll be able to wait and see. One thing to keep in mind though is that at that point you’re likely to have missed the boat on teaching jobs.

Hi Seni, You’re a lot more familiar with Australia than me by the sounds of it! Happy to try and answer your questions. 1.How has your experience in your school, living area and BA in general been so far? First of all it’s important to understand that while Quilmes is theoretically part of...

    Good luck with the decision.

perry I would be unlikely to break contract over money - I signed a contract knowing the risk and so as long as they're still upholding their end of the deal I can't see myself quitting. To break contract I think I'd have to feel the country was too unsafe to remain in sensibly. That would be...

    A lot of advice needed

There's been positives and negatives. I'm not sorry I came but I'm not sure that I'll spend more than 2 years here either. Time will tell. The inflation is definitely a big issue if you will be paid in pesos (which I am). If you're being paid in some other currency it's far less of a concern...

    TransferWise comes to Argentina

If by make progress you mean "decide it can't be done" then yep, I've made progress.

How easy is it to be sued by a nanny here?

I've had a cleaner in quite a few countries. Not because I need a cleaner (although of course it's nice) but because (as someone else mentioned) I see it as a good way to give someone a job. Presumably someone who needs it. I haven't been here long enough to really think about it but threads...

    TransferWise comes to Argentina

Am I correct in thinking that I can't use Transferwise to send pesos out of Argentina? Could I use it if I transferred my pesos into USD (in the Argentinian bank) and then transfer those? If not does anyone know anything about the fees associated with transferring money out of an Argentinian...

A random question and an update.

Oh and interesting to know about the Japanese community. That probably explains the supermarket (which we were quite surprised by). Some of the stuff they had was really surprising to me (I spent 5 years in Tokyo and it's definitely Japanese stuff - just not the Japanese stuff I'd rush to...

A random question and an update.

Thanks! Will definitely try asking at some Dietetiicas. There's no shortage of them around. And if not I'll definitely give New Garden a try next time we're in the Capital. Looks like a place we'd enjoy checking out regardless.

A random question and an update.

Hi All, I was on this forum months back when I was trying to decide whether to accept a job in Argentina (and appreciated all the comments both positive and negative). I accepted it, life got busy and I didn't post (I did update at the time saying I'd accepted the job) but I'm in Argentina now...

    Toilet paper

We're using Higienol Duo and it's not too awful. Plus it comes with a mini roll shoved inside the middle bit. For some reason I love that economical use of packing space.

I'm not a him! I'm a her. My poor husband is just the one who gets dragged along with my crazy lifestyle :-). (in seriousness of course we make choices together but he works from home, I'm the one who gets the job in the country so we can live there). I'd actually come back in to let you all...

Thanks for the feedback. That's great information to have, especially about the monthly fair. Sad that the fruits won't be equal to Bulgarian but sounds like we won't starve.

Thanks for the additional comments. Ceviche I'll see if they offer me the job but I appreciate the encouragement. I tend to think new experiences should be embraced, that's why I'm looking to a region of the world I've never even traveled in. I prefer to move to countries I've never set foot...

Thanks for all that information Ries. I don't like arugula so I won't miss that :-). But the suggestion to ask for particular things is a good one if we do end up there. Once we settle in and get the lie of the land it's useful to know that's a possibility. Home-made pasta stores sound...

Gracielle that was kind of my thinking. They’ve obviously weathered some financial storms before. Which is no guarantee of course. It’s possible that things will go to pieces worse than ever before but that’s true anywhere to an extent. The school must be doing ok because they actually opened a...
