Why Does Everyone Here Seem To Hate Buenos Aires So Much?

As soon as I posted that, I thought of the gaspatcho my girlfriend made here last week, and I realized I was lying for the sake of humor.

Where in the world are empanadas better than here? I will go there and eat them.

Why Does Everyone Here Seem To Hate Buenos Aires So Much?

As long as I can have pizza and ice cream. I hate soup in the summer time anyway :P

Why Does Everyone Here Seem To Hate Buenos Aires So Much?

+1 in favor of the OPs use of the word "hate". I don't think it's that out of place in either language. I have native English speaking friends for whom that is an hourly part of their vocabulary, though we sometimes tease them for it. Hating a person can reasonably be considered a bit strong and...

    Xoom Or Cuevas?

Hi all, I'm still looking for the best method to turn my dollars into pesos for my stay here. I have cash, but could also use xoom.com. Cuevas kind of sketch me out but if the rate is better than xoom, and someone can recommend a specific place, I could be talked into it. Also, other than basic...

Why Does Everyone Here Seem To Hate Buenos Aires So Much?

bien dicho, Luciana! I find this site both extremely useful for the practical advice and knowledge of the community, and extremely frustrating for the snarkiness (I don't know how to translate *that*), judgements, and complaining about the city. It would be a fair point that I haven't lived here...

    Kitty Litter

Thanks to all for the longest run of helpful, pragmatic, non-snarky answers I've ever seen on a thread in this forum! I'll look around and see what I can find, armed with these new insights. :D

    Kitty Litter

So, in the states I buy kitty litter that is roughly the size of rock salt, only flatter. The main thing I've come to appreciate about it since living in BsAs is that it forms clumps whenever and wherever my cat makes something in it, facilitating easy disposal of offending cat waste with a...

    1 Pm - 1/16/2013 - Dólar Blue Now Trading At 7.50

So I just arrived here and I need pesos. I brought dollars thinking that would be the best way to get them, but now it seems like xoom.com is the best tradeoff between value and sketchiness. Any recommendations?

Best Place To Exchange Dollars For Pesos

I'm in the states now but coming to BsAs soon. These rates you guys are quoting are crazy high! higher than the going rate I see on google. Are people just desperate for dollars there? Is this all "en negro" but somehow still relatively safe?

    Unlocked cell phone

I agree with LaurenW: google your phone make and model number with the word "unlock". Worst case scenario is you brick your phone, but that's never happened to me.

    iPhone 3GS in BsAs?

I was afraid of that, but thanks for the definitive answer. I got the phone for free, and it came with iOS 5, so I can't complain too much. Experiences like this aren't convincing me I should invest in future apply products though...or ever sign up for a contract with ATT.

    iPhone 3GS in BsAs?

Hi all, sorry for any redundancy, but the technology changes so fast, I feel the need to ask again: I'll be in BsAs this thursday with a used iPhone 3GS I just got. It is locked by AT&T here in the states. Will I be able to use it at all with my Personal SIM card? or should I bring my old "dumb"...

How to get an IADL/IDL for an Argentinian

Hi all, I'm an inter-patriate who's in the states right now. My argentinian girlfriend will be visiting for several months and I was curious is any of you had advice on how she could obtain an international or interamerican driver's license in BsAs. Seems there's lots of good info for expats...

    Play Some Futbol/Soccer?

As promised, I'm back... but maybe this thread is dead? Anybody wanna play some futbol? I live in Belgrano, and I have limited Spanish skills, but I'm willing to travel AND/OR make a fumbling attempt to reserve a field at a place I stumbled on near my apartment. Any takers? I can do pretty much...
