    Another FedEx Question

I shipped my used laptop to BA last year (via DHL) and ended up paying something like 20% in taxes on the amount that customs thought it was worth. The WORST part was that first I had to go to the DHL office in microcentro and THEN to the Ezeiza airport where I went through customs hoops for...

    Day trips (that aren't Tigre...)

Make sure you check the situation with the autopista blockades. I went to La Plata last week with my folding bicycle and it took over 3 1/2 hours to arrive as the highway was blocked. Luckily for me I drank a 500ml bottle of coke before the trip to insure agony. :)

    Megatlon- a warning

Could you two move this to a private conversation? And Guillo - are you even an expat? Do you have a particular interest in this forum other than to defend the honor of Argentina?

Looking for a kitten and cat supplies

I have an 8 year old (ish) siamese that climbs on my face every night and puts holes in my clothes. Acts just like a kitten. Price: 3 liters of beer. It would be tough to deal with my girlfriend but I figure that after I drink the beer I'll be okay.

    Homemade Bailey's Liquor

Any idea on how long this concoction will keep? Does Baileys have preservatives or does the whiskey preserve the egg and cream?

How to get US Xbox to work

I have my PS3 down here (with a voltage converter) but my US Netflix account will not work (on either my Playstation OR my computer. I've heard that you need to rent a VPN service to reroute the data to a US server to 'trick' Netflix into thinking that you're in the US. Can a VPN be used on a...

I've been dating a porteña here for over a year and in reality is the main reason I'm still here (getting paid in pesos). My plan is to get her back to the US in about another year on a work visa and see how it goes from there :)

    television adapter

After bringing my TV down from the US and watching Cablevisión in black and white for a few months now, I decided to check around for this PAL-N to NTSC adaptor. All of the TV repair shops said that a converter costs about as much as a new TV, (they are indeed very expensive on...

DNI LIST (the queso grande of all DNI questions for US citizens)

Update: I went to migraciones and indeed do need an apostille for my FBI background check and a work contract. Since the apostille is going to take about a month I booked a quick trip home to the US while it is being processed. Will returning to the US negate my FBI background check? I'd...

Buying a motorbike / scooter in BA

In my experience searching, all imported brands, (pretty much any brand you've known before coming to Argentina) are insanely expensive. A USD$8,000 bike on the Honda US website retails for USD$16,000 here in Argentina. Ridiculous. Fortunately, if you're looking for something under 200cc...
