Argentine rules regarding receival of foreign pension

I receive my US pension directly into my dollar account in an Argentine bank( I have a peso acct also ). I reside here, so I pay tax on the income, and that tax is high. I can withdraw dollars from the bank, and I manage to find a way to exchange USD for pesos at a decent rate.

Precaria > Pension Visa > Residence Visa?

In 2018, I used a lawyer in my city in the US to assist with assembling all the documents for the pension visa, which I received in the Argentine consulate in Chicago. It takes three years to be granted permanent residence in ARG. Do you have a lot of established connections in ARG? Fluency...

    Need a customs broker

Can anyone recommend a customs broker? I had a modest crate shipped to ARG in 2018, and there is now work that remains to unlock the insurance policy through a customs process. The objective is to clear the path so I can get my caution policy deposit back. The whole process, messed up under...

Social Security deposit to foreign bank

I must be the dumbest Yanqui in Argentina. I pay Argentine taxes. Two local accountants were in accord on Argentine tax consequences of social security income. They treated my US Social Security income as taxable. It is taxable also in the sense that my income exceeds the threshold that...

buying a laptop in LA California with Spanish keyboard

Argentine friends are going to LA for a vacation. They want to buy a laptop with a Spanish keyboard. Any suggestions? No, they do not want to buy a laptop with a standard USA qwerty keyboard, and then reconfigure it to Spanish with software. My google search just yields laptops with US...

    Tourist attacked in Palermo

In 2023 a cheap quartz watch new sells for under $5000 pesos. I would rather have that on my wrist than have a phone in my hand worth hundreds of USD. And grabbing a phone is so easy compared to getting a watch off. I rarely carry a phone unless it is needed. When on the street, all my...

Tango in C.A.B.A. where to go for authentic dance, not acrobatics

There seem to be many threads on tango, but elderly family members will be in Bs. As. in October, and they want to see some tango. It would be good to see tango with real bandoleon musicians, indoors, with seating, and top class dancers. I have seen a tango show with lots of wild circus...

What it looks like when a country doesn’t trust its banks

I am no expert on international banking matters, but Argentina wants inflows of USD. Should the government of Argentina convert USD private accounts to pesos, that would halt inflows of USD drastically. Some holders of USD accounts have choices... they can flee Argentina. I don't think the...

    Immigration Lawyer in 2023

I used Celano & Associates to obtain my DNI for permanent residence here in 2022. They were well worth the money, everything went smoothly. Have you used [email protected] ?

    Fiesta Retro tonight in Palermo

Too hot outside for this old geezer. The dancing is held in the back, the dance "floor" is paving stones set in the dirt. No slide or spin moves on that rock yard.

I have not worked with this firm, but they are highly recommended. www.agstudio.com.ar and Alejandro speaks pretty good English.
