Hi Everyone, As I prepare to move to Buenos Aires shortly, I'm feeling both excited and extremely anxious! I'll be making the big move on my own. I'm just wondering how many of you also made the move solo? Did you find it easy to integrate with the locals? My Spanish is basic but I hope...

Hi Lee, It's good to read a positive post for a change. I plan on moving to BA from Ireland next year. But having read so many negative posts here, sometimes I'm slightly discouraged.

    Health Insurance

Hi, This has probably been covered before but how easy/difficult is it for somebody on a tourist visa to obtain travel insurance in Argentina? I plan on staying in BA for at least 1 year on a tourist visa. Suerte!

U.S..Citizens - why did you move to Buenos Aires?

I disagree with this. I have met two of my closest friends in the past 18 months and we do not have a history of going to the same school etc.

    Friendliness of Argentines?

Hi,Having read the last post on honesty, I'm just wondering how friendly do you find Argentinian people to be? I know that this question will sound like a sweeping generalisation. But overall, from your experience, do you find Argentinian people to be warm and welcoming?I realise that there will...

realistic earnings for a TEFL qualified teacher - private tuition/translation work/bilingual PA etc

Wow, that's good. Other people told me that you'd earn approximately 1,400/month for teaching English for 30 hours/week. So it's good to hear some more positive reports re salaries for English teachers!

    Tough Times Ahead?

I agree with you Soulskier. A significant number of posters on this forum do nothing but complain about Argentina, and the high levels of pollution, corruption and the cost of living etc. If so many people are unhappy in Argentina, why don't you just leave??

    Tough Times Ahead?

Inflation is a world wide phenomenon right now. Everytime you read an Irish newspaper or turn on the news, all you hear/read about is growing inflation, rising unemployment and bleak times ahead. I think that media sources thrive on sensationalizing topics.I'm not denying that inflation isn't...

Moving to BA - a few questions

Hi JG, I certainly wouldn't be considered wealthy in Ireland. And when I move to BA, I definitely won't be in a position to hire a maid - even if I had the money, I wouldn't want one. However, I'm lucky that I own a flat and the money I will get from renting it out will mean that I'll have 3,500...
