How's everyone hanging in there with the cost of living these days?

After spending a year in BA, I'm now renting a brand-new 1 bedroom furnished apartment in central Mendoza for $800 Canadian per month ($568 USD) - all utilities and taxes included - via Airbnb, so you know I'm overpaying. But where I'm from in Canada, this apartment would easily set me back...

How did it go? Would you mind sharing the deets if you went through with it? I may have to do the same soon!

Do Birth and Marriage Certificates Expire for PR Applications?

Oh man, when does the background check expire? I was thinking about getting mine just before heading back from Canada at the end of September. On the Migraciones website, they say you only need to provide police clearance for the country you've been living in for the past 3 years. Is this one...

Got married! Now how to get citizenship?

Thanks so much for all these details. I'm wondering: how do you prove regular income to the judge or DNM without a local bank account in your, the foreigner's, name? Can you use proof of your local spouse's regular Argentine income?

Bathtub issue in rental (direct from owner)

LOLing at the expression "doing a runner"! I'm having a consult with a lawyer today. I also just talked to the plumber who said that the fissures were due to the cheap/old tub fitting, not the new tenant. Kind of wondering what's going to be "my fault" next! Lesson learned: for me, Airbnb...

Bathtub issue in rental (direct from owner)

You guys are a wealth of great info. Thanks so much :) So if I have a rental contract that's for 1 year and not in pesos, is it even legal? Feeling a bit duped right now...

Bathtub issue in rental (direct from owner)

So they’re fixing the tub now: three days without use of the shower and a mess, but it’s getting done. Yay. Even though I’ve only been in the unit for two weeks, the owner said I was at fault but they are generous enough to cover the expense. I asked them about compensation or clean up in...

Question about those pesky garage door alarms for pedestrians

Update: After emailing the businesses in the building where the alarm is, people commiserated, helped me contact the building administrator and told me the steps to follow, and even drafted a letter for me to present to the administration. I was borderline touched. Porteños are helpful!

Bathtub issue in rental (direct from owner)

Hi guys, I moved into a new place two weeks ago now and everything seemed to work okay...until I noticed three fissures in the bath tub this morning. When I first moved in, they weren't noticeable, but the floor of the bath tub did make a bit of a crunching sound. I figured it was normal...

Question about those pesky garage door alarms for pedestrians

Hey Expats! So I just moved into an apartment on Gorriti (right at the end near Dorrego) and it's generally quite chill. I love the neighbourhood. There is, however, this super loud pedestrian warning system blasting from the garage across the street every time a car enters or exits...and it's...

    Recommendations for Attorneys

Best to reach out to Agustin directly, his fee schedule has probably changed since we spoke in March. At the time, it was a low fraction of the price you just mentioned (well under $1,000). That said, Agustin is younger and doesn't come with the same breadth of experience.

    Recommendations for Attorneys

I reached out to Gabriel Celano and his office twice in March (beginning and end) but they did not respond. I contacted Cristian Rubilar, who seems amazing but is way out of my price range, and had a video consultation with Agustin Nicolas Beaudean, who is wonderful and quite affordable...

Looking for a 1 bedroom furnished apartment

Hey Ozgur! I do not recommend applying for the digital nomad visa, it is a poorly management program with little to no benefit - more of a gimmick. If you can get a tourist visa upon entry, I'd recommend doing that and renewing it within the country, or by exiting and re-entering at the 90-day mark.
