No flights from BA to Bariloche in early Dec??

After being closed for the volcano for several months. They re-opened briefly. They are now closed for remodeling or repairs instead of doing it while the airport was sitting there closed. Bunch of morons run this city I tell ya.

    San Martin de los Andes?

I haven't heard anything about them being affected. I suppose on a windy day they may ge the ash in the air. I really have no idea. But Esquel is not that close to Bariloche. Our friends drove to that airport and it was a 3 hour drive. San Martin is 3 hours North of us. Nuequen would be closer...

FBI records rejected if over 60-days old?

that's true, they told me I could go and come as I please. Now in my mind, I don't see how that could not effect my report, but whatever. We were at the immigration office 3 weeks ago discussing the FBI report. In Bariloche they still say it has to be apostilled and said they have several files...

    Schools and education

I can't answer that. I've never lived in BA. My husband grew up there and he is quite educated. More than I am. I worry about their education though. My 5 year old goes to jardin and basically paints or plays all day. In the states my older son had homework everyday at that age. Which is not a...

    Schools and education

I'm in Bariloche. I don't like the half day, but I do not want my kids at school the entire day either. We chose a private school that is 8-12:30, M,W,F and 8-2:15 T&TH. I'm ok with it. The other one is in public because he is in Jardin, he will eventually get moved to the private.

I met someone who did home school from U.S. school. I have no idea how it works though.

    Ash in Bariloche

It's not dangerous to be here. I live in it every day with my kids. Rafting and swimming should not be cancelled. However the lake is too cold for me to go in during the summer. Their are good days and if it's a bad day you can always wear a mask. You can get them at the pharmacies. I don't know...

    Has Bariloche Recovered?

Spring is beautiful here, if you can ignore the ash, you should have a great time.

    Schools and education

I'm not in BA, but I have 1 kids in private and the other in public. Both are fine. If you choose public you really need to get a feel for it because the public we HAd to go into last year because we got here right before school started sucked. They were mean to him and my husband said they...

    Has Bariloche Recovered?

We drove to El Bolson and were completely shocked at how the ash stops right at the end of Bariloche. El Bolson is no problem at all.

    Has Bariloche Recovered?

ok, here is the deal. Downtown looks ok. I haven't stepped foot on any of the beaches yet since this was all during winter, but my own yard looks like a beach. Now that it is drier the ash is drying up and the wind blows it through the air. On really windy days the ash from the volcano is so...

    Travel with kids opinion

I live in Bariloche...depends what you mean about being let down with the ash. Ash is flying through the air still. It's on the streets in big piles. Hotels are discounting because of it though. You see people walking through the streets with masks covering their nose and mouth. The airport is...

    FYI- Children-residents-travel

It's absolutely ridiculous. I have never seen my husband so mad ever. He was ready to not even bother coming back. He moved away from Argentina for 13 years because he cannot stand their ways. We moved back because he thought things had gotten better. Now he realizes they probably wanted a bribe.

    FYI- Children-residents-travel

American children only need a passport to fly. Our problem was United didn't say a word about it when going through all our paperwork. We found out at immigration who turned us away and waited until the plane was taking off to say they would make an exception if we got it faxed. So we had it...

    FYI- Children-residents-travel

Here is a valuable lesson I just learned. If your children become permanent residents they must have their passport and birth certificate for international flights. You have to prove they are your kids and apparently having a passport isn't good enough. What a shame when we went to immigration...

    Has Bariloche Recovered?

the ash stops at Bariloche, so anything south is good. I'm not sure how the clean up is going north of us but Villa La Angostura got hit worse than us. The lake here is looking good again though.

Travel while residency is in process

We've asked them every time we go just to make sure and they have always said that it is no problem. I don't have my FBI report though because they kept screwing it up. Now we just wait for the interpol report to come in.

    Rice Krispies

I make using the version made by GRANIX. It says Arroz en copos Crocante and it's in a baby blue bag. The problem I have had is in finding marshmallows. All I can find in Bariloche are ones that are pink, green, yellow and white and they have a flavor to them. So it's not the best treats in the...
