100 songs I would have in a virtual jukebox

Great selection, speaking as a much younger prog fan. I think I would've pulled from Madman Across the Water for the Elton John picks, but there are some awesome choices here, including the Neil Diamond picks, and especially the Alan Parsons Project.

    Disappointed with Food in Argentina

My wife and I went to Granero in Milberg yesterday with a couple of friends, and it was great, but it wasn't cheap at all. For the four of us, it ended up being around 300k pesos after dessert and tip, but a significant chunk of that was my wife ordering the wagyu bife de chorizo. If you don't...

    Immigration changes: Health, Education, Deportation

If you're coming in with a precaria, you're a resident-in-process and aren't subject to the insurance requirement. Only tourists are getting that. My wife and I both have PR and it's always "Documento, pulgar derecho, foto, ciao" for us.

Can anyone recommend a canned tuna?

I like the Gomes da Costa (Brazilian brand, available at Coto) and Makro brands as a solid value in tuna. Last time I went to Makro, I got their house brand en trozos for around 2k pesos/can, which isn't a terrible price

Warning - Do NOT get cheddar from Valenti

I just had 500g of their 30 month mature cheddar delivered and it is incredible. Not only the best cheese I've had in Argentina to date, but probably in my top 10 best cheddars, period. It's just that good.

Warning - Do NOT get cheddar from Valenti

I've had the black Snowdonia and it's very, very good. I haven't tried the others though

Warning - Do NOT get cheddar from Valenti

I feel like I eat very local, doing my shopping at the shops within walking distance of my apartment for 2+ years and getting to the point where folks greet me by name at the bakery/butcher/etc. Doesn’t mean I can’t buy a cheese that ended up being spoiled after opening and warn others against...

Warning - Do NOT get cheddar from Valenti

That’s my plan for today. If I hadn’t opened it after they closed for the weekend, I would’ve already.

Warning - Do NOT get cheddar from Valenti

La Suerte is my go-to as well, but I was, perhaps too optimistically, hoping for a real cheddar I could get in my neighborhood. Nunca Mas.

Warning - Do NOT get cheddar from Valenti

I went into the Valenti in the Mercado de Belgrano on Saturday because they enticed me with the cheddar on display, since after ~3 years in Argentina and only intermittent respites of real cheddar, I was having a craving for good cheese and I bought 900g of the stuff. A little overboard, but I...

78 days from turno to resuelto for extra-Mercosur permanent residency.

I typically only got stock responses, and the form doesn't let you send more than once every 48 hours, but the persistence helps keep your case top-of-stack.

    Western Union money transfer

I have BBVA and they only charge commissions for amounts above $5k now. Last time I wired in money, I sent 5500 and they only charged $28.

    Obtaining residency

I did a basic writeup on my process here which may or may not be helpful, depending on what changes have happened in the past two years. If you're going to go for your Argentine driver's license as well, I did a writeup on that too. You'll need your DNI in-hand first, but it's not too bad.

    Obtaining residency

Make an appointment with the RNR and they can do it. They're the only ones authorized to do it officially, and IIRC, they even have the forms on-hand, printed on card stock. You'll want the appointment for requests from the US and Canada...

How to get your Driver's License in CABA. (Step-by-step guide)

They did a quick eye exam as part of the appointment. It's all done in one go, so it's not bad once you have the documents in order.

    English Mass / English-speaking Priests

It's not Catholic, but IIRC the Cathedral Anglicana at 25 de Mayo 282 has bilingual services, or at least I think I saw it on the sign. (My wife is in a choir that practices there, so I can confirm on Thursday when she has her practice)

    Driver's License

That is correct, it's the shorter of 10 years or the validity of your residency.

    Driver's License

I did a pretty comprehensive step-by-step guide in February after I got mine without restrictions. It wasn't bad, just lots of paperwork shuffle. They handed my US license back to me before I went to do the psychological exam, fwiw...

Streaming Sports struggle......much bigger issue than a bank account or citizenship lol

If you have MeLi+, it's around 6k pesos/month for Disney+. Honestly, MeLi+ is worth it just for the free shipping and occasional discounts, and the discounted streaming services are icing on the cake.
