Whatever happened to the Obama sycophants?

And why don't all of you who who are so sure what is going to happen go back to the US and do somethign about it? The more you sit on your butts and complain, the less credibility your arguements have. I wish that most of the expats here would post about things about Argentina. Isn't that the...

    3:1??? Now 3:1.3???

It's been a few years since I've lived here, but what's the differece b/t three to one and three to one-thirty? Please don't answer with the usual "blah, blah, blah, dumbass" stuff that (used to) dominate[s] this forum.

    new from los angeles

Hey. I know how overwhelming it can be at first. I moved here with LOTS of in-laws waiting and it's still hard to get used to. I lived in Culver City (Overland & Venice) for a year. Send me a note if you have any questions. -Taylor

    It's been a while . . .

It's not like I was ever a heralded poster here, but I'm glad to be back. I grew up near Houston. After college I moved to California. Once I felt like I was a decent enough surfer, I moved to Colorado. My skiing is, for lack of a stronger adjective, gnarlier than my surfing. Whatever. The point...

    Buenos aires hash house harriers

I hope all you hashers had fun!!! For anyone who doesn't know, this is great. I was in Guyana for an extended peroid (blaghhhh). Hashing was a great diversion. Since hashing in Guyana was as fun as it was, then hashing in BsAs must be spectacular. I wonder if Banks is better than...

Citizenship of child born in Argentina from US Citizen Parents?

My daughter was born in Argentina a few years ago. All we had to do was fill out one form and pay a fee. It was very easy. Just go to the embassy. Living in the US is not so bad. Truth be told, I feel safer in the US than Argentina.

    Deteriorating relations with the US

I´m from Texas. My wife is from here. I recently lived in Acasusso and Beccar for about a year. Right now I´m spending the holidays in Acasusso with my Argentinian family. I´m 26 and have 7 cuñados. I am friends with all of them. I go out with each and every one of them and have made...

Re: Kansas has gone down hill

I'm not as impressed with Kansas as everyone else is. My wife grew up 3 blocks away in Acasusso and loves it. I don't see what is so great....it's okay but nothing to write home about. All I need to be happy is a good morcilla (sp?), provoleta, and matambrito de cerdo. You can get that anywhere.

    Dulce de Leche

Does anyone know the rules for taking food into the US? All I want to take is a suitcase full of dulce de leche and vauquitas. Those two things will not cause any problems, right?

    Apartment advise.

There is a very nice hostel, Te Adoro Garcia, on Soldado de Independiencia and Teodoro Garcia in Belgrano/Las Cañitas. It only costs 30 pesos per day, and the owner works hard to keep out the rif-raf. Staying there while looking for an apartment would save you tons of money. My wife and I...

    KIMBO SLICE

Most of you will probably read the first sentence of this post and move on. Anyway, MMA (mixed martial arts) is gaining in popularity. There is this guy on the internet, KIMBO, who bare knuckle fights with people......and, all except for once, totally destroys them. Well, him and Ray Mecer, a...

    Tigre Delta

One of my sisters-in-law has a boat stored in Tigre. It´s a medium sized ski boat. A few Saturdays ago we took a 1.5 hour boat ride to her house/cabin on one of the islands in the delta. I felt like we were lost in a maze of rivers running through 100s of small islands. I´ve never been to...

    Hipodromo San Isidro

Does anyone know if it´s true that there are races every Wednesday in San Isidro. Also, does anyone have any tips regarding going to the track? Not betting tips, just anything about the place that might be helpful. I´ve been jogging around it for a long time now, but have never gone to the races.

    Know a wedding planner?

I agree with Sheridan725. I got married here last November and everything was very easy. I can´t think of any names right now, but the place you decide to have the all night crazy drunk fest party that follows any Argentinean wedding should be able to help with everything. PS I´m not...

    new-comer with tons of questions!

Argentina is not really that bad.......Yes, Quilmes is a lot like Natural Light or Keystone(grossssssss), but the coffee is not too bad. Just add lots of milk like everyone else. Teaching English will probably make paying rent pretty hard, but you should be able to find something in San Telmo...

    ATM withdraw limits

I still urge everyone to ask for the fee waiver. I know most people in this forum have not had success, but I´m not sure why. I guess I got lucky, but I really urge everyone to call customer service at their bank and at least ask for it.

    Poco Espanol

I don´t think that I´ve gotten ripped off since I moved here. At first I would not try to buy anything without help from a native friend, but now I do. I don´t speak much Spanish, but I blend in much more than I did when I got here. If you look totally lost as most tourists do, then you...
