    Rice Krispies

Victory is mine!! I got the crocrantes de arroz at the Coto mentioned, thank you, and found these tiny bags of marshmallows in Barrio Chino- don't remember the individual price per bag but ended up around 40pesos for enough to make two batches of treats. They came out pretty good, all my...

    Rice Krispies

Thank you all so much for your replies. I was able to find the Coco Krispies at a nearby Carrefour, thanks for the heads-up on that. In terms of marshmallows, I found some of those flavored ones at a nearby Kiosko for a total rip-off. Looks like Dona Clara has the best pricing at about $20...

    Rice Krispies

So I just ran a search for Rice Krispies and came up empty handed. I'd like to make some good 'ol US snacks to share with my classmates and as I'm without an oven, Rice Krispie Treats seemed ideal. Except I can't find any. Are they anywhere to be found? Uruguay maybe? (Also accepting...

    Eating on a budget

If you're looking for meat at a great price you cannot beat the Carne Para Todos. http://baexpats.org/expat-life/16337-carne-para-todos.html There are two in Constitucion, one in the station and one about half a block up Brasil (I think?) street. Just make sure that what you are buying is...

    Water Bottles and Yoga Mats

Far from a Sigg, but I found a reusable glass bottle in the form of an interesting drink at one of the supermercados in Barrio Chino. It was in the drink section with some floaty limeade bits in it. It's fairly small and you'll have to soak the labels off, but for 8 pesos it does the trick.

    Shipping a Tablet

Ok expats, we need your help. The HP Touchpad is supposed to be going on sale for $100 US soon. If it's shipped directly from Amazon.com with original receipt, will they believe the price and charge the customs fees accordingly, or make up their own number? Will Amazon's "Priority Courier...

Getting US Dollars to Pay Rent

Thanks for the great tips on cambios, cash advances, and dolarhoy - we will probably be using those resources in the future. Because we needed to pay several months up front, we ended up using Xoom, which we found in a previous thread here. They charged $50.00 for $2,500 USD to pick up at any...

Semester Study Abroad at Universidad del Salvador

Hi All! I'll be studying in BsAs at USAL for four months starting July 19th. I've really enjoyed reading around the forum so far and I'm looking forward to an expat meet up soon. I'm going to be living on a student budget, but I've been doing that for a while now, so I think it will be...

    Dry Shampoo??

Sharon, I don't know of where you can buy it, but I'm sure you can find the supplies to make your own. Personally, I use plain cornstarch and have found it works better than the Tresemme spray stuff. I've also heard of just using cocoa powder for brunettes. Here are a few recipes...
