No valves to turn off gas supply. Hard to believe.

I've done enough work on my apartment here to know that installing shut-off valves seems to not be on the agenda in construction. There is only 1 water shut-off valves for one of the bathrooms. None of the sinks, toilets, or shower has shut-offs. And, the gas shut-off for the kitchen is located ABOVE the stove.

Who would try to steal a gas meter? Unless they are trying to bypass it.

Huge relief for me. I have family who live very close by, heart in mouth stuff for a few hours while we tried to get through. Fortunately everyone OK although a few suffering from a bit of shock.

I stayed in July in a building a block or two from there, there was a gas heater in the living room, even though it was very chilly in the apartment I refused to turn it on due to the overwhelming smell of gas coming from it and the warning we were given not to use it with the window closed. This was a modern apartment, Boulevard Orono is an affluent part of the city.
