As I said, the British monarch is only nominally the head of state. She has no influence in Australian politics or foreign policy. You are inferring that she has powers that she doesn't have, and if she ever did try to influence Australian politics, there would be an instant referendum and her status as head of state would be ended forthwith. Undoubtedly there will be a referendum on us being a Republic when the current monarch dies, and from how I read public opinion, it would be a strong vote for ending the link to the UK.
