If, like me, you are on a budget but get fed up counting the pennies at times and just want to be treated like royalty, a little pampering, imagine Pretty Woman, then come for afternoon tea to the Alvear. Quite simply thee most luxurious hotel in BsAs, you can give yourself that much needed treat, an afternoon tea and it's fabulous.

I have been there twice now and each time, I come away feeling so pampered and the food is so yummy. The service is impeccable. The waiter's don't even let you pour your own tea, they quite simply pamper you! I went there recently with a friend, and the waiter came back later to ask us which cake we would like to take home as well. It is worth going even for the choice of tea with such wonderful flavours including white roses and lavender!

The Alvear charge 120 pesos for each afternoon tea, however there is so much food that they recommend you share with someone. So for 60 pesos, it is definitely one of the best things you can do in BsAs in luxurious surroundings.

I would like to get a group of 10 people or perhaps 12 people if they can squeeze us in!

Please send me an email if you want to come. It is also a great way for all ladies (and men) who are travelling on their own and want to get out and meet more people and make some new friends.

If there is interest, I want to book the afternoon tea for Thursday 5th July at 4pm......................

Ciao

this actually sounds like a great idea. Almost as great as when my friend invited me to brunch at the Four Seasons for $ 300 pesos per person.

lol.

Count me in, just tell me when you're doing it.

I am just interested in the tea, but it's fun to go there

The Alvear teas are famous, and the tea room is beautiful. In summer there's a lovely French-style patio to have tea outdoors.

PS be warned, don't eat lunch before coming! You'll need an empty stomach for all these yummy scones, strawberry jam, and clotted cream! mmm!

Good deal.
I assume that included the mimosas?

I have heard its excelent. I sometimes pick people up from there and even i feel pampered just in the few minutes i am waitng. They are trained to treat everybody like a king or a queen. Its worth splashing out a few bob extra once in a while.
Imagine the sceen from titanic when jack says his name is jack Dawson. And the Gentleman says are you of the Boston Dawsons, and jack replies no the chiperwall fall dawsons. Ah yes replies the gentleman,as if he knows them well.
well ths is wonderful experience of the Alvear ,anyone can be king for a day.
I highly reccomend it.
Please excuse my lack of grammer, quotation marks ect.
as i am of the Boyles the 30 miles north of London comon as muck Boyles

Argentines dress up to go have tea at the Alvear, so it's a good chance to see beautifully dressed people.

it will be definitively a nice place to visit once I get to BA. I might be interested but it depends on the date.....for I am not yet in BA.
