Amazon Plans $800 Million Data Center in Argentina (Bahia Blanca)

Amazon.com Inc's cloud division plans to build a regional data center in a free-trade zone in Argentina, according to people familiar with the matter.

The Seattle-based company is preparing to invest about $800 million in the project over 10 years and will reap considerable tax benefits by locating the data center in the Bahia Blanca-Coronel Rosales districts of the province of Buenos Aires, said the people, who asked not to be identified because they’re not authorized to speak publicly.


The project isn't final, according to the article. Also it's Bloomberg, which has been pretty garbage reporting lately.

They have a lot of them, including a few in Brazil- it totally makes sense they would want one in Argentina.
7 major undersea cables come ashore in Las Toninas near Mar Del Plata, which is not all that far from Bahia.
They have close to 40 of these data centers in the State of Virginia alone- building one more is not a big deal for them.
Virtually nobody works in these- its just a giant airconditioned building full of servers.

Perhaps liberals here in Argentina will call in alexandria ocasio-kotex, the congresswoman and former bartender and ask her to help with Amazon. She did a bang up job in New York City which resulted in that company terminating plans to build a headquarters there which would have resulted in 25,000 well paying jobs and billions in revenue for that city. Liberal logic. She also claims Americans can soon fly to the sun...but only at night.

Except that most of those well paying jobs were for the employees already working for Amazon (relocation). Not to mention that after they got rejected by her, they moved to Virginia causing gentrification & pricing out the lower class: exactly what she has predicted. That would've been disastrous for a place like Queens. AOC is a genius. By the way, "liberal" doesnt mean what you think it means.
