Regardless of why NYC and Amazon didnt get hitched, it still true that to Amazon, its no big deal to build another of these data centers, and they will be geographically spread around the world, in countries that are a good combination of served by undersea cables, and at least somewhat politically stable. Which, believe it or not, Argentina fits.
One interesting fact- the reason Amazon has 40 of these in Virginia is that a huge swath of Amazon's profits is from renting server space to the Feds, particularly the NSA, CIA, and other alphabet soup agencies.
