I live out in the sticks in a small town 100 miles from the capital. I smoke a pipe however the choice of pipe tobacco in the shops here is very limited. Soon as I find some decent stuff (my preference is for non aromatic) I buy it all. Problem is when I run out and go back they never have the same brand I bought. They of course blame importat restrictions so I just have to acept it and start all over again finding something suitable.

Anyway, what I'd really like to ask any pipe smokers is....does the same problem exist in BA or do the tobaconists there have a more reliable and consistant selection available?

There's an excellent couple of tobacconists in Martinez, Zona Norte that I can highly recommend.
It goes without saying that you'll have more luck in BA.
Where are you by the way?

We've to go into BA later in the month so shall pay them a visit.

We're out near Chivilcoy.

Hey there have you tried Casa DUran in Chivilcoy on avenida Villarino?maybe you can order your stuff thru them BTW i'm in Chivilcoy

Yes that's the one I usually use.
They do at least stock non Argentine tobacco but say they rely on what they're brought rather than what they want.

I buy Cerrito, which is Uruguayan hand rolling tobacco.
Interesting fact: I started buying this baccy in 2012 at $6 and it's now $30.
