Has anyone by any chance been to Colonia lately? Are the ATMs giving out dollars? Do they give you 20 dollar bills or 50 or 100? Thanks.

Business as usual as of Jan 20th. To my knowledge ATMs in Colonia never give out anything other than Benjamins.

The 10K seems to be some sort of international agreement (tacit?). Its interpretation may vary (US: 10K per family / here: 10K per person).

It's a good idea if you don't mind carrying and holding a lot of cash. If you don't want to do that Xoom or another money transfer service is a good alternative.
