Anyone know what allspice is called here?

It's called pimienta de jamaica or just pimienta jamaica. I've purchased it in Barrio Chino, but perhaps a spice shop like El Gato Negro sells it too.

Is a mix of spices like cinamon, clove and others used in stollen and pan dulce or sweet bread for Christmas I think.....it is what you mean

I know that this should be put under the food forum but there is much more traffic on this one.

Does anyone know what allspice is called here or if it is even available other than in the chino market?

The web says the translation is pimenta dioica or pimenta inglesa but I have never seen these here.

Thanks,
The most common name in Argentina is pimienta de Jamaica. In other Spanish speaking countries its called Pimenta dioica, pimienta gorda, pimienta guayabita, pimienta dulce, pimienta inglesa or pimienta malagueta.

I have found pimienta de Jamaica in several dieteticas and in Mercado Central in Mendoza.

A tip: When you want to find the name of e.g. a spice (and lots of other names), find it on en.wikipedia.org (or your native language wikipedia.org), then select Español to see the Spanish name for it (e.g. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allspice -> Español which sends you to http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pimenta_dioica).
