I need to change a bit of money, and I realized this may be one of those unexpected days when things are closed...

Monday and Tuesday are "legal hoildays" in Argentina...and the info has been avaible on line since January 1st (if not earlier)...

...so there is nothing that should really be "unexpected" about all banks and most (if not all) WU agencies being closed.

Well, unexpected if you didn't have the Argentine Holidays tab of your Google calendar ticked off...

As far as I see from the government website, https://www.argentina.gob.ar/interior/feriados-nacionales-2022 , it’s not a feriado, at the very least
That's for 2022; for 2023 Monday and Tuesday are holidays: https://www.argentina.gob.ar/interior/feriados-nacionales-2023

The BCRA publishes bank holidays which can be found here: https://www.bcra.gob.ar/BCRAyVos/Feriados-bancarios-2023.asp
Both Monday and Tuesday are also bank holidays, and Thursday is a national bank strike, so expect Wednesday to be busy.

Thank you kindly for the correction. In my defence, the first result when googling Feriados was 2022, though I should’ve clocked

Well, at least now you know how to find most of the official holidays.

Actually, I check the holiday schedule in a new google search before I leave the house to drive to Punta Alta or Bahia Blanca...

But, as we have seen recently, a public holiday can be declared the night before:

I could eaisly have missed both of them if not for this forum, but the two days of Carnival, like Christmas, are always a public holiday.

The 23rd. banks may be closed for salary paritarias?

I would have checked the holiday schedule tomorrow morning before driving to Punta Alta, but I already knew that Monday and Tuesday were holidays, not because I have the Argentine Holidays tab of (my)Google calendar ticked off...

...but because Banco Santander Rio sent me an email last week advivisng me how to access cash on Monday and Tueday as well as whcih online services were avaiable.

Someone here recently called Santander Rio a "shitty bank" in the forum without saying why they held that opinion.

Until they do, in my opinion, that is just a "shitty remark." 🤠
