This should make y'alls day...

With the situation in both Paraguay and Bolivia of the CIA, evidently, trying to overthrow the two countries governments to, again evidently, get closer to Venezuela this seems like a logical move. "Sword rustling" or "posturing" I would think. Even somewhat predictable considering the adversarial relationship between Argentina and U.S. /Britan.

Anyway, form your own opinion. Those the story was newsworthy for all....

Wouldn't make much of it. The Powers that be have a primal hate of anything wearing a uniform in Argentina. They've conducted a strict policy of neutering the armed and security forces.

Argentina was a allied of the US during the 70´s in "the war against communism". The contras in Nicaragua were trained by the CIA and Argentinians officers.
However, when the US took the side of the UK during the war on 1982, the former dictator thread them to allied in long terms with the Soviet Union and China.
Even Galtieri was a moron, everybody agreed with him about that and the Argentine international politics went on that way. If you see, our mainly exports buyers are Russia and China. It is an strategy to bypass economical sanctions, among others.

So what you are saying is that countries who were in "the back yard" of one superpower are now looking around to see if there is any interest from the new emerging superpower.

From an Argentine perspective I can see the logic!

Same "game" happening in Africa but some stumbling on the way there e.g investment in railways that fail to deliver

Remains to be seen exactly how China will assume this new leadership role in Latin America.

Some would say its becoming worrying that south america is becoming another dimension in the latest edition of the "great game" because history says these things always end in tears but hey ho isnt that how Argentina first got its foothold into self awareness - a couple of centurys ago?

Well, we are new as a country. There is no such a thing as centuries of story.

Argentina is trying to play the big game since WWII.

Did you even think about why a southamerican country like us has nuclear energy?

and was developing the project Condor II sponsored by Irak (nuclear misil).

So, as I exlained before, Argentina has clear that Europe or the US are not allied.
