Argentina v Chile v Uruguay for rural small town living

im a yanqui immigrant in argentina and also have been wanting for a long time to make it to the rural life and escape the city. my wife finished her degree, now we're beginning to look at properties, and cant wait to raise children in a healthier environment in the campo. if God wills it we hope to get a very large piece of property and build a catholic self sustainable village.

What factors presently make Argentina (presumably Capital Federal) more expensive than Spain?

Excluding rent and meals in restaurants, both of which for me are zero, my monthly cost of living is presently $450, almost exactly half of which I spend on everything that I eat and drink. The other $225 USD pays for everything else, including utilities, insurance, wi-fi, Netflix, nafta, and annual taxes, fees, and car maintainence divided by twelve.
Great summary. However add a factor for housing like a % interest rate for the dormant invested capital on you property.

With all due respect; yours is not col but cost of existence. Living there myself until last May, there’s no way you can live on a 450.

If I was renting, and was "willing" to pay $450 per month rent for the house I live in, that would double my cost of living (at today's prices). Assuming only a five percent return in an annuity in the USA on the "dormant investment capital" would have resulted in a "wash" with no growth in the principle (based on the original investment: what I paid for the property).

Please feel free to shred this line of reasoning (if not rationalization). I won't feel insulted.I'll still be happy with what I've paid t live here, including "opportunity" cost. I am 100% certain that if I had not bought the property and moved here to live in 2010 that I 'd already be dead.

PS: It appears that the property has increased in "dollar value" by about 40% in fifteen years (based on current house prices nearby).

In Spain, near Alicante, nearby many beaches, a 2BR apartment in a golf resort. Gated community. With all the facilities and security. Monthly rent around €600. Monthly food 200. Insurance full coverage with dental 120. Even covers abroad for up to €100K. Barcelona you rent a decent place for 800.
