Argentina wants more money from IMF now

Someone explain to me like I'm 5 why any sophisticated financial institution would loan money to Argentina.

Indeed.
Seems to me it's like giving a 5 year old a bag stuffed full of dollars and telling them they don't really need to pay it all back. Even more amazing is they do it every couple of years.

And explains why Argentina was keen to please by starting lockdown on the advice from WHO many months before they really had to.

Oh, you threw up all over the forum again, don't worry it will be ok...I know, I know,... you love asking and asking asking why about everything, why is it all so hard, why does noone understand you, why are the Argentines all so mean mean meanies!!? It's ok little one, rest your head, you'll be back in the arms of your warm homeland soon enough. Rock a by baby....

Why do so many people get triggered by Fiscal on this forum? LOL

The IMF is not a humanitarian organization. They don't exist because they care about the well being of citizens of fiscally strapped countries.

They exist for the purpose of political influence. Why in the world may they give Argentina another $35 billion? Because if they don't, China will happily expand their influence and foot print in Argentina.

The thing is, when privillaged incredulity is repeatedly presented as neutral lack of understanding, with a heavily negative bint, then certain responses are likely to appear from those who hold a different outlook.

'how could anyone possibly live on less than 100kUS a month". Or "how can anyone possibly lend the scummy Argentines money" or "these Argentine women are just gold diggers how can anyone trust them", or "how can anyone make friends in this culture" etc etc etc...

Seems pretty reasonable to respond as I do. But I guess everyone has their own views here, most of the neolibs are happy bedfellows on these forums and spend pages and pages patting each other on the back. Sorry for putting a few holes in the narrative on occasion, though that's my perogative.

Let's just say a mocking response here and there is in order. And when fiscal himself asks to be treated like a little kid, well.. let the analogy fall where it does ;p

Pretty straight forward, honest, tell it like it is reply ...

It doesn't make sense to agree with another just for the sake of doing so. Healthy disagreement sometimes has more value. It inspires considerations and thought.

I just think, regardless of for or against something / agree or disagree with something, that it can and should be done in a respectful manner.

That's all ...

Do you find satire and humour a less respectful form of communication than what to many looks like the expression of directly bigotted views?

If so we will have to agree to disagree on this one.

Hi L2B,

People can do whatever they want, I have no influence or control over them ... I am indifferent.

I have the ability to "weed out" profanity, disrespect, bias, etc ... from communications ... oral and written. NOTHING FLUSTERS ME.

I really don't care how another chooses to express themself. If they choose spirited, highly charged content, it reflects poorly on them ... not me. And I feel, because I have no desire to reply in kind, that an argument can be avoided. I just make a mental note of the kind of personality I am working with and file it away for the future, so I can elect to avoid the person or not.

So do whatever you like, I can find your point within the manner you choose to communicate ... and I will make sure we stay on good terms!
