Starved of entertainment I was reduced in the end to supporting James Pattinson in the hope that he could get his career batting average past as many of Australia's top 6 bunnies as possible just for some added humiliation (for the record, if he had remained not out today he would've been ahead of Usman Khawaja, Steve Smith, Chris Rogers, Phil Hughes, Ed Cowan and snapping on the heels of Watto).

Pattinson out for the rest of the tour, a massive kick in the guts for Australia's batting stocks. Surely Bird is a chance now and he brings the added bonus of being a genuine tailender giving the Australian top 6 at least a whiff of a chance of outscoring him.
