I feel like I must jump in in defense of the idea of giving special treatment to some people. Having been pregnant three times I adore that I was able to take advantage of it when I needed to. I did not abuse it, and agree that it is anoying when people do. It would make me very embarrassed when someone would try to push me to the front of the line when I felt that it wasn't needed.
The one time that I am eternally grateful for the rule was when I returned home from Europe with two kids, about to turn 3 and 5, four months pregnant and nauseous as hell. We get of the plane, make our way to the baggage carousel, get our bags, I still have both kids and have not been pick pocketed. We are about to go out and there is a huge line, I look at it, sigh and resign myself to it when out of nowhere this angels comes at me and directs me to the empty slot for diplomats and flight crew. I still felt a bit guilty though.
