Did you take that video yourself? Why were you watching something you hate so vehemently?

I don't hate soccer - it's good exercise for kids until the age they acquire the hand-eye coordination for more complex activities - but soccer evangelists are no less annoying than Bible thumpers from the Deep South.

"Soccer evangelists" don't exist. Just people responding to ignorant statements like "soccer is boring" or "baseball is a complex, intellectual sport."

Unfortunately, merely asserting they "don't exist" doesn't make them go away.

Fortunately, the mini-hysteria has dissipated since the Belgians helped us out and, with a little luck, the Costa Ricans will keep the US team out of the next tournament. So it might be at least eight years until we have to think about it again.

It seems the "soccer" (as US citizens call it) hysteria appears every 4 years, but quickly disappears again: http://www.google.com/trends/explore#q=soccer
