Best country to move to when life in Argentina becomes intolerable

I think this is what may happen with Argentina and Buenos Aires if Milei is successful with his free market policies. In Spain umemployment is high and salaries are low relative to other EU countries thanks to restrictive socialist economic policies.
I lived in Spain, and am often there due to work, and I wouldn't really agree Spanish people having bad time. Not all is perfect of course, but relatively low salary gets you through pretty good, and there is plenty of work for anyone willing to. They might complain a lot, but they do that surrounded by friends, in full restaurant, full belly of good food and with good wine in their hand. Not exactly you average world sufferer.

Spain is often downplayed in international media. It's 15th economy of the world, I believe only Australia and Canada with fewer population ahead, have very good public transportation network, plenty of opportunities. Something they are doing right, I guess.

I too lived in Spain. Depends which circles you are in I guess. There is work if you are willing to chase seasonal/short term often exploitative work competing with immigrants. Or if you are skilled and you manage to land a career and can afford property or you inherit from your parents than yeah life isn't too bad but many younger Spanish even skilled professionals go abroad looking for work when they'd rather be in Spain because there just isn't the opportunity. Inland towns are dying at a rapid rate as everyone heads to the big cities but there is still not enough good work or property to go round. That said with the few euros you have in your pocket you are going to go out and enjoy yourself on a balmy evening with friends and family as Argentines are still doing now.

I am reading that prices in BA/Ar have now risen to the extent that they are on a par with USA, and it is no longer cheap to live there. I that true? What are the prospects for future inflation? Milei was supposed to make things better but it looks like at least in the short term he has made things worse.
I was thinking of retiring in Argentina, but now having second thoughts. Maybe Paraguay is a better bet? Paraguay has a more favorable tax regime.

Australia is one of the least affordable countries in the world. Real estate property prices in Australia are now beyond the reach of nearly all young Aussies.

The only thing certain about Argentina and the economy is its instability and constant change. If you have income in a stable foreign currency rather than a local currency then that makes it easier to ride out the changes. Milei's policies, if successful, will most likely result in a reduction in USD buying power versus the recent exchange that favoured expats rates under Fernandez. But for how long and how much? Who knows......just be prepared for change.

Is BsAs now more expensive than Rio?
Rio has become a lot cheaper over the past few years for expats due to the decline in the value of the Real versus the USD. When I was living there it was around 1.5 to the USD and now its closer to 5.
