So i'm sent to the us who somehow decide i want to access the Singapore mirror of facebook..

Routing to facebook.com is normal (via Miami) for me on Telecentro (I also tried the specific server you hit, same thing).

Are you sure this isn't just Facebook's geolocation-based CDN screwing you over, e.g. assuming that you're coming from the ASEAN region? Or, put another way, are you seeing this routing from sites other than Facebook?

As with most top 10-size sites, Facebook has its own CDN and geoIP-based algorithms for determining which CDN node to give you, and in fact, how www.facebook.com will resolve for you DNS-wise. For instance, here in Armenia:

sasha@higuera:~$ host www.facebook.com
www.facebook.com is an alias for star.facebook.com.
star.facebook.com has address 69.171.228.72
star.facebook.com has IPv6 address 2a03:2880:10:8f02:face:b00c:0:27

sasha@higuera:~$ host 69.171.228.72
72.228.171.69.in-addr.arpa domain name pointer star-slb-10-05-prn1.facebook.com.

That one actually happens to be at home base in San Jose. However, from one of my Atlanta-based servers:

sasha@adagio:~$ host www.facebook.com
www.facebook.com is an alias for star.facebook.com.
star.facebook.com has address 173.252.110.20
star.facebook.com has IPv6 address 2a03:2880:2110:df01:face:b00c:0:4

In fact, given that you appear to be going through San Jose ([background=rgb(252, 252, 252)]ae-0.r20.snjsca04.us.bb.gin.ntt.ne), it seems to me this is definitely Facebook itself screwing you up.[/background]
