buying gold

Can anyone tell me whether it is feasible or legal to buy gold, not as an investment but as an exchange method?

I will be leaving here in a couple of months and am worried about being able to exchange and transfer my Pesos out of Argentina given the current situation. I am talking about a sum in the region of AR$50,000.

My idea is to buy gold here (coins, bars, whatever) and sell once I get to my next destination.

I'll be living in Europe toward the end of the year and one of our salaries is in pesos here--I'm looking into several options (not looking into gold, but I know it can be done). I'll post them here when I find out more.

The best way is to go on an 3 day official trip to a gold producing country like Angola with a lot of cash and buy some where you are there.
