Have you guys heard about the Bye Bye American Pie event that is showing at MALBA? It sounds pretty cool, especially for us Americans!

Obviously, the exhibition is named after the famous Don McLean song, but it's not an exhibit just about him. It is supposed to represent the transformation of the 60's generation, their struggle with the loss of innocence, etc. There's work from the following artists: Jean-Michel Basquiat, Larry Clark, Nan Goldin, Jenny Holzer, Barbara Kruger, Cady Nolan and Paul Mc Carthy.

It started yesterday and runs through June 4th. Anyone planning on going? Has anyone gone yet and have any thoughts?

You can read more about it on MALBA's site: http://www.malba.org.ar/web/exposicion.php?id=122&subseccion=actuales
Or in English here: http://insidebuenosaires.com/2012/03/29/bye-bye-american-pie-at-the-malba/

I went last night it was pretty impressive, I would definitely recommend checking it out. On the second floor there is also an exhibition by León Ferrari, an Argentine artist, which was pretty interesting too. I think on Wednesday's entrance is free or reduced from the usual price at Malba.

There are some photos of the exhibition here - http://www.panachic.com/2012/03/inauguracion-de-bye-bye-american-pie/

Maybe it's just me but I found it a gross representation of America. IT literally made me disgusted from start to finish. I Found nothing redeeming on any of the floors at malba but if shock factor art is your thing, you will love it, it just wasn't for me.
