Hi folks,

I bought an apartment in Palermo Chico last November and I am struggling to find a contador to help me with paying my real estate taxes. I am a US citizen and don't have residency here, but I already have an Argentinean citizen who will be my "responsable sustituto".
Any recommendations you may have will be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,
Chris

Hey Chris. Same here, bought my place in Palermo Chico this past year. I'll shoot you a DM to share notes.

My wife's sister and brother-in-law are both very experienced accountants (he also a college professor), as are both their son and one of ours. Only our son speaks English however. Let me know if you need any of them and I'll pass along contact info.

I'm in the same boat. Have been looking for an accountant and would appreciate any recommendations.

For real-estate City taxes an accountant is not needed, and they should tell you that. You look it up and pay at the city web site https://www.agip.gob.ar/

Though as a non-resident you are responsible for the Federal assets wealth tax "Bienes Personales" based only on the value of argentina property. Compared to what you may hear from many residents who do not need to pay anything if they are below the minimum. This is where an accountant can help you, at least the first year. https://www.argentina.gob.ar/arca

Yes, non-residents need a representative or contador to assist with payment of the annual bienes personales to ARCA, formerly known as AFIP. Does anyone have a recommendation for a contador that has experience working with non-resident foreigners?

Thanks everyone for your feedback and guidance. Much appreciated.
I have managed to find someone that can help me navigate the process.
Enjoy your weekend!
