I was talking to Red and I guess they had a Mexican music festival in the park in Palermo last week. They had stands and he bought corn tortillas (made by real Mexicans :D). Here is the website: http://www.elportaldemexico.com/servicios/catering/itacate.html. I emailed her for a price list and will post that when I get it and let you know how the food is too.

They have tomatillos (green tomatoes)! Im dreaming of making real chile verde, the can is a good substitute but nothing like the real thing.

These mexicans and gringos are changing the "bland taste" we are accustomed in his country, damn mexicanos & usanias we all are going to finish eating hot red chili peppers :D

The prices aren't too bad (unfortunately it's a word doc so I cant copy/paste).

Corn tortillas are $15/dozen, flour ones are $12/dozen or $15/half dozen "mega" flour tortillas, for burritos. Green tomatoes are $25/kilo, poblanos are $30/kilo. There are homemade salsas too.

I'm going to order some for next week. Will update...

Does anyone know where to get corn husks?

I was thinking about making tamales.

Must be somewhere, otherwise how to the Salteño style empanada places sometimes have tamales.

I was thinking of making chile rellanos and chile verde but tamales do sound good...

Ooh I'd also love to find out where to buy corn husks and do want to try to make my own tamales sometime. And yes, Vanessa, that link is gold! I'll definitely be placing an order soon. :)

Is this Mexican festival a one time thing or do they have it every week? What park in Palermo was it in? Thanks.

It was listed on their site under events and it doesnt say anything about anymore so I don't think so.

i put in an order for tortilla, salsa, etc... for Thursday. I will leave a review sometimes this weekend.

Chile verde, enchiladas, huevos rancheros (they have ranchero sauce in Chinatown)... This is going to be an awesome weekend.
