....Grupo Insud's physician and CEO, Hugo Sigman, stated that the vaccine developed by the University of Oxford and AstraZeneca against Covid-19, which began to be produced in the country last week, will be ready by the end of March or the beginning of April..."We manufacture the active principal of the vaccine, we sell it to AstraZeneca, they send it to Mexico where they package it and from there they have to distribute it to all of Latin America. Who sells the vaccine is AstraZeneca," the businessman explained...

I was under the impression they'd worked a deal for the Russian vaccine? The one where I suddenly become fluent in speaking Russian and permanantly pissed through drinking Vodka.

Yes, I posted that information this morning on Page 19 of the thread...COVID-19 vaccine development pipeline gears up. This thread is strictly about the AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine.

The ANMAT rushes the approval of the AstraZeneca vaccine
The Government is about to announce the news it intended before the end of the year. During these hours, the details are being rushed so that between tomorrow and Tuesday the National Administration of Drugs, Food and Medical Technology (ANMAT) approves, for a year and in the framework of a pandemic emergency, the vaccine that the AstraZeneca laboratory developed and the University of Oxford, whose serum is produced in the country by mAbxience, one of the companies of Hugo Sigman's Insud Group....
....The Government already signed an agreement with AstraZeneca some time ago and according to what was reported, the delivery of 22 million vaccines was negotiated, that is, for eleven million Argentines. As LA NACION learned, the Banco Nación already paid an advance of eleven million dollars to ensure the stock.

But beyond approval, nothing will be immediate. Although Sigman already produces the vaccine in its plants, the agreement with the English laboratory only reserved for its Argentine counterpart the production of the asset in the country. The rest will be completed in Mexico. That is why the laboratory insists that between February and March it will only be available in Argentine territory to begin mass vaccination....

....The approval of the ANMAT, surely, will be the first in Latin America, although other similar procedures in important regulators of the world are expected in the next few hours. Sources familiar with the operation clarify that neither AstraZeneca nor Insud will participate in any vaccination system, but that the only client will be the State and not private vaccination facilities....

When the Oxford-AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine will begin to be applied in Argentina
After approval by the ANMAT, the storage and distribution strategies begin to be designed for when they arrive in March 2021 from Mexico.
....the National Administration of Medicines, Food and Medical Technology (ANMAT) validated the AZD1222 vaccine from Oxford / AstraZeneca in Argentina under emergency use against the SARS-CoV-2 virus, considering that it “presents an acceptable benefit-risk balance, allowing to sustain the granting of the registration and conditional authorization of the product for the requested indication. The same was granted for a period of one year counted from the date of this provision, under the condition of sale under prescription ”.

....In Argentina, the Government reached during the year an agreement with the AstraZeneca laboratory to purchase 22.4 million doses in March that will cover 11 million Argentines under the “emergency registration” modality. The fundamental input for this vaccine will be produced in Argentina -through the mAbxience laboratory, part of the pharmaceutical group Insud Pharma- and the packaging and regional distribution will be carried out from Mexico....“The AstraZeneca vaccine by a joint decision with the University of Oxford is going to be sold non-profit, that is, without any profit. It will cost between 3 and 4 dollars, it depends on the country and the internal costs....

....Today's authorization from the English regulatory agency (MHRA) established the emergency supply of the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine for the active immunization of people over 18 years of age. The authorization recommends two doses administered 4-12 weeks apart. In Phase III clinical trials, this regimen was shown to be safe and effective in preventing symptomatic COVID-19, with no severe cases or hospitalizations more than 14 days after the second dose....

....The issue around doses is very relevant because according to the Oxford researchers revealed exclusively to Infobae with the first dose, 70% of immunity is accessed and with the second - which will be completed between 4 and 12 subsequent weeks - it is completed 90% of the efficiency, strengthening the memory of the immune system to protect the individual against the SARS-COV-2 virus and the disease that it causes, COVID-19....
....
While these findings left regulators faced with the dilemma of differences in the efficacy rates of the vaccine, a study published this week, and that was substantial in the process of rolling review in the hands of the Regulatory Agency of Medicines and UK Health Care (MHRA) suggested that adequate spacing between doses is the most crucial way to increase efficacy....
